Irene Da Rocha (conosciuta come RGjournalism) voleva dare l'addio al mondo della fotografia ritmica dopo i Mondiali di Valencia, ma le è stato negato l'accredito...

"Quindi questa è la fine. Grazie per avermi seguito durante tutto questo percorso nella fotografia GR. Voglio ringraziare tutte le ginnaste e gli allenatori per avermi permesso di scattare quelle foto bellissime ed emozionanti. Senza l'arte sulla pedana, non potremmo fare il nostro lavoro.
Come alcuni di voi sanno, volevo che il Campionato del Mondo di Valencia fosse il mio addio, ho fatto domanda per l'accreditamento per la Federazione Andorra ma è stato rifiutato. Quindi il viaggio finisce qui un po' più bruscamente di quanto avrei voluto. Spero che questa recensione degli ultimi anni ti abbia portato dei ricordi gioiosi come ha fatto a me.
È impossibile riflettere in sole 10 foto tutto ciò che dà diritto a un gala, un concorso e tutti coloro che lo rendono possibile. Ehi, la cosa più difficile è scegliere solo 10 foto tra 2000 già preselezionate... Ho sempre voluto condividere la mia visione di ciò che apprezzo nella ginnastica. E forse per la prima volta e per l'ultima ti racconterò la mia storia. Da bambina adoravo guardare la ginnastica in TV (sì, anche alle 2 del mattino o rivedere le gare registrate in video poiché Internet non esisteva all'epoca). I miei primi ricordi sono stati un gala che ha avuto luogo dopo Atlanta 96 che aveva diverse discipline di ginnastica, e c'erano Elena Vitrychenko ed Ekaterina Serebrianskaya. Mi sono innamorata di questo sport. Inoltre, una giovanissima Almudena Cid si è esibita lì e ho sentito di più la vicinanza. Potete immaginare i giorni successivi in cui ho trovato un nastro in casa, o qualsiasi tipo di palla o un paio di birilli da bowling per diventare clavette. Ma siccome mia madre non vedeva la ginnastica come uno sport per me perché ero un po' goffa, non ho mai avuto la possibilità di allenarmi. Diversi anni dopo, a Barcellona, per caso ho trovato un nuovo club che ha introdotto i principianti RG per i giovani adulti. Lì ora incontro alcuni dei miei migliori amici e persone che mi hanno mostrato che se c'è qualcosa che ti piace, non importa quanto sei bravo, divertiti e basta. Probabilmente alcuni dei miei allenatori la pensavano come mia madre, ma hanno cercato di ottenere il meglio da me e per questo gli sarò sempre grata. E poi è arrivata la prima competizione internazionale a cui ho partecipato come spettatrice: la Coppa del Mondo Guadalajara 2016.
Non puoi immaginare quanto sia stato difficile ottenere un biglietto (provando con 4 computer nel sito di vendita). Ed è così che è iniziato il mio viaggio come fotografa RG. Ho studiato Comunicazione all'Università, quindi alcuni dei miei lavori consistevano nello scattare foto per eventi turistici. Ho provato a portare ciò nel palazzetto. È davvero difficile descrivere le sensazioni nel vedere ciò che avevo visto sullo schermo nella vita reale. E se qualcuno di voi è mai stato a una competizione che si tiene in Spagna, probabilmente avrà notato come i palazzetti tremano per le urla, gli applausi del pubblico: la pelle d'oca. Alcuni mesi dopo ho incontrato ad Euskalgym alcune delle persone con cui ho condiviso questo viaggio insieme. Tutti provenivano da diverse parti della Spagna e non si conoscevano, ma condividevano la stessa passione per lo sport. E la magia è tornata. La pedana di Euskalgym per me è la migliore esperienza di ginnastica, senza la pressione di una competizione, le ginnaste si sentono libere di esprimere tutto ciò che hanno. Così come l'ambiente dei backstage dove si vedono amicizie e gentilezza senza confini. Ridono tutti nella stessa lingua.
Passarono anni, foto e concorsi. Sentivo il bisogno di saperne di più sulla ginnastica, ho iniziato frequentando i corsi per giudici e successivamente il corso per allenatori (l'anno scorso ho completato i 3 livelli). Mi ha aiutato a capire di più le difficoltà che c'erano dietro i 90 secondi in pedana e valorizzarlo ancora di più. Se hai partecipato a qualche competizione io c'ero, probabilmente hai ricevuto un DM da Instagram con un link alle tue foto (forse perché non mi conoscevi al momento il messaggio è sfuggito). Ho sentito che ogni ginnasta stava lavorando così duramente per dare il meglio per il pubblico che io avrei dovuto fare lo stesso per loro.
A volte potrebbero non essere le migliori foto, a volte è davvero difficile tenere ferma la fotocamera quando tremi dall'emozione per quello che hai di fronte (davvero, davvero difficile). La mia macchina fotografica ha scattato più di 1000000 foto, 1000 ginnaste e ha visitato più di 25 città e ha detto che è più di quello che posso fare la prossima volta sarà l'ultima. Se dice così, per me non c'è altra opzione che rispettarla ed essere grata per il tempo passato insieme.
Voglio ringraziare le persone che hanno condiviso questo viaggio con me e hanno sostenuto le mie lunghe notti copiando foto in hotel, le battute in camera, gli abbracci ogni volta che ci siamo riuniti, i ricordi condivisi con le ginnaste, le opportunità dell'organizzazione della competizione e ogni singolo momento che hai condiviso con me.

CITAZIONE "So that is the end. Thank you for following me all this path into the RG photography. I want to thank all the gymnasts and coaches for letting me take those beautiful and emotional photos. Without the art on the carpet, we couldn’t do our job. As some of you know I wanted Valencia Worlds Championship to be my goodbye, I applied for the accreditation for the Andorran Federation but was rejected. So the journey ends here a little bit more abruptus that I wanted. I hope this review of the last few years brought you some joyful memories as it did to me. It’s impossible in just 10 photos to reflect all that entitles a gala, a competition and everyone who makes that possible. Hey, what’s the most difficult is to choose only 10 photos from 2000 already preselected… I’ve always wanted to share my vision of what I appreciate in gymnastics. And maybe for the first time and the last I’m going to tell you my story. As a child I loved watching gymnastics on TV (yeah, even at 2 AM or rewatching recorded competitions on video as internet did not exist at the time). My first memories were a gala that took place after Atlanta 96 that had different disciplines of gymnastics, and there was Elena Vitrychenko and Ekaterina Serebrianskaya and that was it. I fell in love with the sport. Also, a really young Almudena Cid performed there and I felt more the proximity. You can imagine the days after whenever I found a ribbon at home, or any kind of ball o a pair of bowling thingies to become clubs. But as my mother didn’t see gymnastics as a sport for me because I was a bit clumsy, I never got the chance to train. Several years later, in Barcelona, by chance I found a new club that introduced beginners RG for young adults. There I meet some of my best friends now, and people that showed me that if there is something you enjoy it does not matter how good you are, just enjoy it. Probably some of my trainers thought the same as my mother, but even though they tried to get the best of me and for that I will always be grateful. And then came the first international competition I attended as a spectator World Cup Guadalajara 2016.
You cannot imagine how difficult it was to get a ticket (me and 4 computers trying at the sales site). And there was how my journey as RG Photographer started. I studied Communication at University so some of my jobs involved taking photos for touristic events. I tried to bring that to the pavillion. It is really difficult to describe the feelings to see what I saw on screen in real life. And if some of you have ever been to a competition held in Spain, probably you have noticed how the pavillions tremble by the screaming, applauses of the audience: goose bumps. Some months later I met in Euskalgym some of the people I shared this trip together. Everyone came from different part of Spain and they didn't know each other, but all shared the same passion for the sport. And the magic came again. In the carpet, Euskalgym for me is the best experience of gymnastics, without the pressure of a competition, gymnasts feel free to express everything they got. As well as the backstages ambience where you can see friendships and kindness without borders. They all laugh in the same language.
Years, photos, and competitions passed. I felt I needed to learn more about gymnastics, I started by taking the judges courses and later on the trainer course (last year I completed the 3 levels) It helped me understand more the difficulties that lay behind the 90 seconds on the carpet and value it even more. If you have been in any competition I was there, probably you received a DM from Instagram with a link to your photos (maybe as you didin't know me at the time the message got missed). I felt that every gymnast is working so hard to give their best for the audience that I should do the same for them.
Sometimes might not be the best photos, sometimes is really hard to hold your camera still when you are shaking with emotion for what's in front of you (really, really hard). My camera shoot more than 1000000 phots, 1000 gymnasts, and visited more than 25 cities and said that's more than I can do next time will be my last. If it says so, for me there isn't any other option that to respect that and be grateful for the time together.
I want to thank the people that shared this journey with me and supported my long nights copying photos at the hotel, the jokes in the room, the hugs every time we reunited, the memories shared with the gymnasts, the opportunities from the competition organization and every one and single moment you have shared with me.
