Zussman: "Il successo di Linoy Ashram ha aperto una porta sul mondo, tutto è possibile"

La squadra ritmica di Israele ha concluso questa settimana uno dei campionati europei di maggior successo della sua storia. La squadra ha lasciato la competizione a Baku con un saldo di otto medaglie in totale, di cui 2 d'oro e l'importante argento nella competizione a team.
Chi ha portato tutti all'impressionante traguardo è l'head coach Ayelet Zussman, che dopo le Olimpiadi di Tokyo ha riunito attorno a sé una grande squadra, che comprende le allenatrici Ella Samoflov e Natasha Stifanova, l'allenatrice della nazionale Natasha Asmolov, gli assistenti allenatori della campionessa olimpica Linoy Ashram e Ida Mirin e una lunga lista di funzionari.
Zussman sa che non c'è molto tempo per i festeggiamenti perché ad agosto ci aspetta la gara più importante dell'anno, il campionato del mondo che si terrà questa volta a Valencia, in Spagna. La squadra punterà ancora una volta al podio, ma altrettanto importante, le ginnaste individualistecercheranno di arrivare tra le prime 14 e assicurarsi un posto alle Olimpiadi di Parigi.
"Sono molto soddisfatta del campionato", ha detto Zussman a Israel Hayom. "Adi Katz continua a mostrare i suoi progressi di anno in anno, puoi vedere il miglioramento dei punteggi, dei livelli di difficoltà, della velocità sulla pedana ed è stato un impressionante debutto da senior per Daniela Munits".

"È stato dopo che ha vinto l'oro agli Europei junior, volevo dividere gli esercizi tra Alona Hillel e Munits, ma Alona si è infortunata al 90° minuto della sua ultima gara. Quindi come riassumi il campionato?
"Siamo soddisfatti dei risultati, soddisfatti del risultato, abbiamo avuto il privilegio di cantare l'inno nazionale e alzare la bandiera israeliana a Baku. La competizione è andata oltre ogni nostra aspettativa".
Pensi che l'industria ottenga il rispetto che merita?
"Non me ne preoccupo molto, veniamo alla competizione e facciamo quello che dobbiamo fare. Se siamo riusciti a salire sul podio e se non abbiamo resistito alla pressione, ci mancherebbe, allora no".
Qual è il tuo segreto magico?
"Lavoro di squadra, duro lavoro, coreografia e le ragazze fantastiche. La grande prova è un campionato del mondo, che simula una semifinale, il che rende più facile per noi della squadra che abbiamo il biglietto per le Olimpiadi e le ragazze possono lavorare più liberamente di altri paesi. Quando vengono con fiducia, mostrano quello che hanno, in modo più aperto e libero ".
Davvero, tutti si chiedono quando Daria tornerà a gareggiare - e lei?
"Attualmente è in riabilitazione, le sue condizioni sono buone, il recupero supera le mie aspettative. Non so ancora quando sarà la sua prima gara, punto alla Coppa del Mondo in Italia, che è un mese prima dei Mondiali. Se è qualificata, gareggerà lì e poi avrà una competizione prima, il che è qualcosa di molto importante che accada. In caso contrario, non è male, l'importante è che rientri nei criteri per i Campionati del Mondo. Stiamo facendo di tutto con il team medico in modo che possa essere in piedi per i Mondiali, questo è l'obiettivo".
Sembra che molti paesi siano riusciti a ridurre i divari negli ultimi anni - come lo spieghi?
"Il podio dell'ultimo giorno ai Campionati Europei è stato molto più vario, la prima ragione è che la nostra campionessa olimpica è israeliana, tutti i paesi vedono che tutto è possibile. Linoy ha aperto una porta qui, ha mostrato agli altri paesi dell'Europa occidentale che non appena sei concentrato e focalizzato sull'obiettivo, puoi raggiungerlo, insieme al talento e al duro lavoro e noi come squadra miriamo a questo".
E tutto questo ancora senza Russia e Bielorussia che sono ancora sospese a causa della guerra in Ucraina, pensi che debbano tornare?
"Faremo quello che dobbiamo fare, non mi interessa se ritornano o meno. Credo nello sport, quello che fai e quello che meriti è quello che ottieni alla fine. La sfida è fare le lauree folli di difficoltà che abbiamo posto alle nostre ginnaste e finché lo sopporteremo, saremo sul podio".
Ora puoi segnare gli obiettivi per le Olimpiadi di Parigi?
"È ancora troppo presto, abbiamo i Mondiali. Lì posso segnare come obiettivo: fare di tutto per vincere una medaglia ai Mondiali. Per quanto riguarda Parigi è difficile dirlo, perché il giorno dopo i Mondiali tutto cambia, il gli esercizi cambiano e spero che non siano meno buoni degli esercizi di oggi"

You threw Munits into the deep water at the age of 15 and she stood it bravely
"It was after she won gold at the European Girls' Championship, I wanted to divide the exercises between Alona Hillel and Munitz, but Alona was injured in the 90th minute of her last competition. Munitz's luck was that she had already been to the last competitions, including the World Cup in Baku, she had a dress rehearsal at the same place, And she gave a very impressive performance and managed to get a medal with Adi in the state competition, something we did not aspire to. The most important thing is that they enter the first 12, so that we can get the ticket for 2-3 gymnasts to the world championships."
So how do you sum up the championship?
"We are satisfied with the results, satisfied with the achievement, we had the privilege of singing the national anthem and raising the Israeli flag in Baku. The competition was beyond all our expectations."
Do you think the industry gets the respect it deserves?
"I don't really worry about it, we come to the competition and do what we have to do. If we succeeded on the podium and if we didn't stand up to the pressure, God forbid, then no."
What is your magic secret?
"Teamwork, hard work, choreography and the great girls. The big test is a world championship, which simulates a semi-Olympics, which makes it easier for us in the team team that we have the ticket to the Olympics and the girls can work more freely than other countries. When they come with confidence, show what they have, more open and free".
Really, everyone is asking when Daria will come back to compete - what about her?
"She is currently undergoing rehabilitation, her condition is good, the recovery exceeds my expectations. I still do not know when her first competition will be, I am aiming for the World Cup in Italy, which is a month before the World Championships.
"If she is qualified, she will compete there and then she will have one competition before her, which is something very important to happen. If not, it is not bad, what is important is that she be within the criteria for the World Championships. We are doing everything with the medical team so that she will be on her feet for the World Championships , that's the goal."
It seems that many countries have managed to reduce gaps in recent years - how do you explain that?
"The podium on the last day at the European Championships was much more diverse, the first reason for this is that our Olympic champion is from Israel, all countries see that everything is possible. Linoy opened a door here, she showed the other countries of Western Europe that as soon as you are focused and focused on the goal, you can achieve it, together with talent and hard work and we as a team are aiming for that."
And all this is still without Russia and Belarus which are still suspended because of the war in Ukraine, do you think they should return?
"We will do what we have to do, I don't care if they give back or not. I believe in sports, what you do and what you deserve is what you get in the end. The challenge is to do the crazy degrees of difficulty that we set for our gymnasts and as long as we stand it, we will be on the podium ".
Can you now mark goals for the Olympics in Paris?
"It's still too early, we have the World Championships. There I can mark as a goal - to do everything to win a medal at the World Championships. Regarding Paris it's hard to say, because the day after the World Championships everything changes, the exercises change and I hope they will be no less good than today's exercises ". |
