All Stars of Dance Closing Gala
June 18th, 2016 - 7:30 pm
OFFICIAL SITEThe World Ballet Competition (WBC) has announced its 10th Anniversary Finals to be held June 13-18, 2016 in Orlando, Florida. The dynamic closing event, “All Stars of Dance,” will be June 18th at 7:30 p.m.
Judged by major international dance masters and artistic directors, the competition draws aspiring young dancers and professionals from around the globe to compete for more than $150,000 in cash, scholarships, and dance merchandise. Since its 2007 inauguration, WBC has helped launch the professional careers of previous competitors now affiliated with ballet companies in: Boston, San Francisco, Europe, Russia, Sweden, Japan and Canada.
“We have seen our medalists go from talented students to major international professional dancers. The atmosphere of our competition is transparent and open. It has been gratifying to see the tremendous growth and the appreciation of our participants for hosting the event.” said Vasile Petrutiu, founder of the WBC.
Beginning November 1, applicants can apply for the WBC in categories from Introductory to Professional (solo), Pas de Deux to Ensemble and Choreography. Prizes include the $10,000 Grand Prix award which is open to all categories.
The World Ballet Competition has become an important fixture on the international dance scene as well as on Orlando’s annual calendar of events. Each year hundreds of dancers and their families worldwide travel to Florida's sunshine and world-famous theme parks. The 2015 WBC, held June 8-13, attracted participants representing 24 countries, 16 states, and 9 Florida counties. Winning dancers were awarded more than $23,000 in cash prizes.
Furthermore, a stunning economic impact for Central Florida of $2 million is estimated to be generated from the 10th Anniversary WBC Event (based on Americans For The Arts Survey of WBC). The week-long event generates over 1,000 hotel rooms, the largest of any dance group in Central Florida.. -
