Mi sento libero, in pace con me stesso e soprattutto più forte che mai

Quando Lyes e Arnaud mi hanno chiesto di partecipare a questo documentario su @canal, non sono stato subito d'accordo, poi alla fine mi sono detto "perché no".
Non ho sentito il bisogno di fare coming out in pubblico. Ma avevo questa necessità di liberare la parola per poter aiutare le generazioni future a prosperare serenamente nel mondo dello sport!!!

Grazie Lyes, Arnaud, Canal + e il team tecnico per il loro audacia, mettendo in evidenza il tema delicato di questo magnifico documentario.
Agli altri 5 atleti che hanno avuto il coraggio di parlare a cuore aperto per il documentario: BRAVO!

Al mio compagno che da quasi 2 anni condivide la mia vita e che mi sostiene in ogni mia tappa.

🌈 Hi friends- I wanted to write to you to share some news. Over the last year, with a lot of time to think, feel, and connect with myself, I’ve come to a place of acceptance. I identify as queer woman and this is something I’ve known for a long time but was not ready to face. For years I really hated a big part of myself, and that took a huge toll on my mental health— especially when the world stopped and the only thing I could do was look in the mirror. There’s nothing worse than hitting rock bottom and not wanting to climb out.

Now, after a LOT of work, I can say that I’m proud of who I am — all — of who I am. Growing into my best and truest self is something that brings me joy, and I wanted to share it with you. Actually, I’m shaking writing this message, but knowing that I’m moving in a loving, authentic, and compassionate way feels right. You all know me- I follow my heart, and that always leads me to the right place. I’m ready to move forward living, loving, and being honest with all of my identity. And it has been so empowering to arrive at a place where I can do that. I’m so grateful to have Andrew’s support throughout it all - and it brings tears to my eyes to know that in him I’ve always got the best partner, and friend, for life. ❤️ 👑 🎩

This message is not complete without recognizing that I wouldn’t be able to share this message today without the generations of LGBTQ+ activists and in particular, trans women of colour, who have fought for the right to celebrate who we are today. Eternal gratitude.

Figure skating has a long way to go to grow into a fully inclusive sport, and I promise to do my part to help pave the way for other queer-identifying people. Women can be more than one archetype. Relationships are layered, complex and beautiful. All bodies belong on the ice. You are not alone. And it’s our job to look critically at our sport and come together to make all of these things true.

Thank you for always loving and supporting me (and Andrew!) through every endeavor. I can’t wait for the day that I can hug you all again. Oh, and happy PRIDE!
