gli USA attingono da un vivaio particolarmente folto di pattinatrici, ma possiamo dire che siamo sullo stesso livello della Germania, no?. -

Haydenettes grab fourth in short, trail Paradise
Team Surprise takes second at world synchros; Crystallettes settle for 11th

(04/13/2012) - As predicted, the 2012 World Synchronized Skating Championships are showcasing the greatest talent from all over the world in Gothenburg, Sweden. With only 4.05 points separating the first-place team from the sixth-place team, the competition has lived up to everyone's expectations.
After Paradise, representing Russia, hit the ending pose of their program, much of the crowd knew they had witnessed something special. A team that has struggled with consistency, Paradise skated beautifully to the song "Hallelujah," which drew many of the spectators to their feet. Gorgeous, mesmerizing and moving were all words being used to describe this lyrical program.
Highlighted by nearly flawless moves in the field sequence -- which earned them 7.77 points -- Paradise also earned full credit for their circle step sequence and no hold step sequence. They had the highest base value of the competition (22.90) and are 0.44 points ahead of their closest competition.
Sweden's first team, Team Surprise, skated a creative and fast program to the music from the video game "Mario Kart." The Swedish crowd was cheering loudly for their hometown favorites, who are in second place after scoring 64.63 points.
In third is Nexxice from Canada. The 2009 world champions skated to "Red Run" by Japanese Tao Drummers, which really showcased their smooth skating quality.
The U.S. champ Haydenettes are in fourth place after a clean skate to "Dancing with the Muse" by Spheeris. With a score of 62.14 points, the Haydenettes' head coach, Saga Krantz, was happy with her team's skate.
"We are extremely happy we are in fourth. We all knew it was going to be a tight competition," she said.
Haydenettes co-captain, Jenna Longo, said it was one of their strongest skates of the season.
Co-captain Kelly Ottaviano added that Saturday is a brand new day, and that they are confident in their Lady Gaga long program. They are hoping to improve on their bronze medal finish at the last two world championships.
After not qualifying for last year's event, the Crystallettes earned the opportunity to compete in Gothenburg with a silver-medal performance at the 2012 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships last month.
The team sits in 11th place, just 0.38 points from ninth place.
Coaches Shannon Peterson and Holly Teets were happy with their team's skate to "Mercy" by Duffy.
"It was the best short skate of the year. They put it all together when it mattered most," Peterson said.
"They looked like they were enjoying every moment," Teets added.
The 2010 and 2011 gold and silver medalists, the Rockettes and Marigold Ice Unity (both of Finland), currently sit in sixth and fifth place respectively.. -

La Svezia si aggiudica il titolo mondiale di sincronizzato 2012 Sono stati due giorni intensi di gare a Goteborg per l'annuale appuntamento con le migliori squadre mondiali di pattinaggio sincronizzato, quest'anno organizzato dalla Svezia. Pubblico delle grandi occasioni, nel Nord Europa il sincronizzato è molto popolare. Lo spettacolo non è mancato, le emozioni pure, con le prime sei squadre finite in circa 4 punti nel corto, che ha visto la squadra Russia 1 in prima posizione. Ma con il libero il Team Svezia 1 (Team Surprise) ha preso la testa della classifica, tra il tripudio del suo pubblico.
I festeggiamenti per gli svedesi sono iniziati già durante la cerimonia di apertura, alla quale hanno partecipato Viktoria Helgesson e Kristoffer Berntsson, pattinatori molto amati in Svezia. Sono poi iniziate le gare con il programma corto di venerdì, con le 21 squadre ben decise a dare il meglio.
Una curiosità: si dice che il sincronizzato sia sport femminile e invece in questi campionati sono scesi in pista 10 pattinatori, distribuiti nelle squadre di Australia, Belgio, Canada, Francia, Giappone, Russia, Svizzera e Germania. Altro fatto da notare: per la prima volta era presente una squadra della Lettonia.
Il corto ha visto prevalere Russia 1 (Paradise), che ha pattinato un bel programma sulla musica di "Hallelujah" ottenendo 65,07 punti e il miglior punteggio tecnico. Seguiva da vicino Svezia 1 con 64,63, poi Canada 1 (Nexxice) con 63,76. Ancora entro i 61 punti USA 1 (Haydenettes) e le due squadre finlandesi, Finlandia 1 (Marigold IceUnity) e Finlandia 2 (Rockettes). Più distanziate le altre. La squadra italiana, le campionesse nazionali Hot Shivers, ha chiuso il corto in 12a posizione con 46,19 punti, riuscendo così ad entrare negli ultimi due gruppi per il libero.
La finale ha visto diversi rivolgimenti di classifica. Svezia 1 ne ha saputo approfittare e, col terzo libero, ha agguantato il titolo mondiale che ha inseguito con caparbietà (era dal bronzo del 2009 che la Svezia non saliva sul podio ai Mondiali e dal 2007 che non vinceva il titolo, sempre con le Surprise). Di effetto la presentazione, con passaggi veloci ed energici, vivaci costumi e musiche incalzanti da "Moulin Rouge". Le Surprise anno avuto i migliori components della giornata, con un 10 attribuito da un giudice alle transitions. 194,87 il punteggio finale.
Secondo il Team Canada 1 con 193,64. Il loro è stato solo il quarto libero, ma è stato sufficiente per tenere a bada la squadra americana in rimonta col secondo libero. Programma pulito per le canadesi, pattinato con fluidità su "MicMacs". Le Haydenettes hanno dato tutto, presentando il più alto punteggio tecnico e pattinando con energia su musiche di Lady Gaga, ma sono incorse in una caduta e hanno pagato nei components; alla fine per loro è arrivato il bronzo, con 192,78 punti.
Finlandia 2, con le Rockettes campionesse uscenti, ha tentato con tutte le forze di risalire dal sesto posto del corto e si è aggiudicato il libero con un programma pulito e ben pattinato, ma il punteggio non è stato sufficiente e la Finlandia, grande dominatrice della stagione, è rimasta fuori del podio per soli 3 centesimi. Quarto posto dunque per le Rockettes con 192,75.
Peggio è andato all'altra squadra finlandese, Finlandia 1, che è incorsa in due cadute durante un'intersezione, penalizzata dai GoE, e, con un basso TES, si è dovuta accontentare del sesto posto generale con 180,96. Russia 1 non è riuscita a confermarsi nel libero, chiudendo in quinta posizione con 192,25.
Le Hot Shivers hanno confermato la 12a posizione generale (138,98) pattinando un buon libero, superate per meno di 2 punti dal Giappone che però era rimasto indietro nel corto rispetto alle nostre atlete e che ha pagato anche a livello di components, nettamente inferiori a quelli delle milanesi.
L'edizione del 2013 dei Mondiali di sincronizzato sarà tenuta a Boston, negli USA, sempre ad aprile.
