"Arthur Liu added that his daughter had not moved to Colorado Springs but was merely there for training. He said she would also train at times in Oakland with Phillip DiGuglielmo, who had been her pull harness coach there, but she would be spending most of the time between now and the U.S. Championships in Colorado. “Right now I’m in Colorado training. Training has been fun. I did a show recently, just to do my programs in front of a small crowd. Then I go home in a few days so I’ll probably train there for a little bit. I’ll probably come back to Colorado before Nationals.” - Alysa Liu
On working with previous coaches Jeremy Abbott and Massimo Scali: “I definitely thought I learned an awful lot that year and skated really well too.”
"Quads are pretty important but it's also everything else like spins and then your programs and other jumps besides quads. They’re important but I feel like people could get by without them.” Alysa is not planning to jump quads in her free skate at Nationals.
“I feel the best going into these Nationals because I’ve started to care less about the expectations so it feels good to not have pressure. And now skating is more fun and I’m skating with friends, so it makes it better.”
“I stopped caring what people were saying, because I realised how silly they sounded.”
When asked whether it was a mutual decision or a parental choice to make the coaching change, Alysa replied:
"It was a mutual decision. Obviously it was hard for me to make, which is why I wasn't dealing with it well at first.”
heyyyyy so i’m here to announce that i am retiring from skating🤭🤭 i started skating when i was 5 so that’s about 11 years on the ice and it’s been an insane 11 years. a lot of good and a lot of bad but yk that’s just how it is. i’ve made so many friends, and so so sooo many good memories that i’ll have for the rest of my life. i honestly never thought i would’ve accomplished as much as i did LMAOO i’m so happy. i feel so satisfied with how my skating career has gone. now that i’m finally done with my goals in skating i’m going to be moving on with my life. rn i’m probably just gonna spend all my spare time with my family and friends; and i’m also going to study ykwim. but fr this skating thing has taught me a lot more about life than i anticipated. i’m really glad i skated.
Aiuto ma perché così presto? Aveva ancora tanti successi davanti a sé… In ogni caso rispetto la sua decisione, l’unica cosa veramente importante è che sia felice della sua carriera e che vada avanti con la sua vita come meglio preferisce.
E io che speravo che la medaglia mondiale la motivasse... e di vedere una crescita bellissima. E almeno un'altra medaglia, questa volta meritatissima e non presa sugli errori delle altre. Aveva davvero tutto il potenziale... e tra le americane era quella più interessante da vedere. Sono stata contentissima di vederla sul podio, ma così quasi mi dispiace che lei abbia raggiunto presto il suo successo... perché ci stiamo perdendo una bella atleta.
Poi dice 11 anni nel pattinaggio ma... boh, a me sembrano pochissimi. Ne ho fatti io 10 di agonismo, più 4 in cui imparavo le basi... ritirata al mio sport a 18 anni.
Triste davvero quando una carriera ai vertici finisce a 16 anni. L'unica cosa che mi viene in mente sono gli infortuni con cui ha lottato, e che siano stati quelli a farle perdere la voglia.
Può anche darsi che voglia una normale vita da teenager , ricordate il casino di dicembre per gli allenatori? Essere un atleta professionista comporta molti sacrifici e non tutti riescono a sottoporsi . Alysa ad esempio ha lasciato la scuola a 11 anni per studiare a casa .
Mi avessero detto che dovevo lasciare la scuola e studiare solo per conto mio, avrei fatto salti di gioia Ma poi non è tanto strano negli USA studiare a casa (home schooling).
Sarà che proprio non aveva voglia di allenarsi o appunto voleva divertirsi facendo serata.
Peccato... lei era un ottimo investimento, sia atleticamente che emozionalmente per lo spettatore.

Infatti con il casino per il cambio allenatori dopo poco si ritira. Poi dopo aver vinto medaglia ai mondiali, magari ha pensato " più di così non riuscirò mai a fare, mi ritiro ".
Mi chiedo se farà conferenza per dare ulteriori spiegazioni o no.
