Hyoen 2017 - Ice Kabuki Extravaganza 2017



Hyōen’, a special performance of
ice skating and kabuki!

A special show featuring ice skating and kabuki will take place in May! The performance is more than just a collaboration. Using a skating rink as a stage, it will be a show that’s never been seen before. Incorporating beautiful, graceful, and expressive movements that can only be realized on ice, the production expresses Japanese beauty in a marvelous way. Projection mapping will be used for the stage effects, and exciting flying scenes known as ‘chūnori’’ in kabuki will also be seen during the show!!
‘Basara’, the story that will be performed, is a new work written especially for this occasion. Famous heroes and villains from various kabuki plays will appear and, jumping across the borders of story and time, a battle against good and bad will break out on ice.
During the performance, kabuki actors will skate on ice, along with world class ice skaters!
