Volti della ginnastica: Arina e Dina Averina sono i due assi della Russia
Le gemelle identiche Arina e Dina Averina della Russia - campionesse mondiali ed europee di ginnastica ritmica - sono così identiche che hanno persino le lentiggini corrispondenti sulle loro guance destre. Ma c'è anche un modo per distinguerle: Arina le ha più in basso e sotto il lobo dell'orecchio.
Una volta entrate nell'arsenale russo per le Olimpiadi di Rio 2016, sonon state soprannominate "le armi segrete della Russia" dalla coach nazionale Irina Viner.
Oggi sono le ginnaste dominanti nella nazione dominante in questo sport e si dividono i maggiori titoli dagli ultimi due anni ad Europei, Coppe del Mondo, Campionati Mondiali. Benvenuti nell'era delle Averina.
Sono nate in una famiglia di sportivi: il loro padre, Alexei, giocava a calcio e la loro madre, Oksana e la sorella maggiore Polina, erano ginnaste. Hanno cominciato la ginnastica all'età di 4 anni nella nativa Zavolzhye, a Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, allenandosi prima con Larisa Belova, madre di Irina Belova, campionessa olimpica nel 2000 con l'esercizio di gruppo. Come giovani ragazze, avevano come idoli le grandi campionesse della Russia. Guardando le Olimpiadi del 2004, la gemella 6enne Dina avrebbe "giocato" ad essere Alina Kabaeva e Arina ad essere Irina Tchachina. Dal momento in cui sono entrate nel team nazionale (2011), sono state allenate da Vera Shatalina, seconda allenatrice di Kabayeva.
Come sottolinea Shatalina, non ci sarebbe potuta essere l'una senza l'altra, ogni sorella è stata responsabile l'una del successo dell'altra. Sono sorelle, migliori amiche e compagne di squadra. Si incoraggiano a vicenda durante tempi difficili di risultati deludenti ed infortuni. Non c'è rivalità, solo supporto: ogni vittoria è vista come vittoria della famiglia Averina e della Russia.
Arina, la sorella maggiore di 20 minuti, è conosciuta come Arisha. Dopo un periodo di infortunio, si è piazzata seconda in AA dopo Dina ai Mondiali di Pesaro 2017 e poi ha ottenuto l'oro agli Europei di quest'anno a Guadalajara. Con Arina vincente l'oro a cerchio, palla, nastro e Dina a clavette, le sorelle hanno rivendicato tutti i titoli ai Mondiali 2017.
Le gemelle, che hanno celebrato il loro 20esimo compleanno il 13 agosto, torneranno in gara questo weekend a Kazan, per la tappa finale del circuito World Challenge Cup 2018. Chi sono queste gemelle meravigliose? Si sono sedute con Gymnastic Times da Longines per rispondere ad una serie di domande l'una riguardo all'altra, in modo da far entrare i fans nel loro mondo.
Se fosse un elemento, quale dovrebbe essere e perché?
Arina: fuoco. Dina è una fiamma, letteralmente un fulmine.
Dina: Arina è come l'acqua: calma, tranquilla, soffice, dolce, gentile.
Se fosse un animale?
Arina: un cane, perché è molto fedele e accogliente.
Dina: una tigre. Anche se è soffice, è anche veloce come una freccia e molto forte. La chiamano cucciolo di tigre.
Se fosse una pietra preziosa?
Arina: un diamante brillante, solido e luminoso, è Dina!
Dina: forse un diamante, è la pietra più dura con un carattere forte ma un taglio molto buono.
Se fosse una stagione?
Arina: Dina è l'estate con i suoi colori luminosi, il tempo che cambia, i fulmini e la tempesta.
Dina: certamente l'estate, è luminosa, eccezionale, meravigliosa.
Se fosse un motto?
Arina: Non mollare mai! Dina si muove sempre verso i suoi obiettivi e sogni, non importa quanto sia difficile.
Dina: Non mollare mai! Anche nei momenti più duri Arina non si arrende e va sempre avanti.
Se fosse una nazione?
Arina: la stessa potente, generosa e sfaccettata Russia.
Dina: la Russia è la sua terra d'origine, dove è nata e cresciuta. La nazione per cui combatte e gareggia.
Se non fosse una ginnasta, che sport praticherebbe?
Arina: pattinaggio di figura. E' il suo sport preferito dopo la ritmica.
Dina: farebbe pattinaggio di figura. Arina ama questo sport e tifa sempre per gli atleti russi.
Se fosse un hashtag?
Arina: #alwaysstaypositive. Abbiamo lo stesso hashtag. Bisogna pensare positivo e sorridere in tutte le situazioni.
Dina: #staypositive, devi prendere tutto con facilità e con un sorriso.
Se fosse la qualità che preferisce trovare negli altri?
Arina: sincerità. Le piacciono le persone sincere che dicono sempre la verità.
Dina: fedeltà. E' molto importante che una persona sia devota a te e non tradisca mai.
Se fosse un'emozione?
Arina: la gioia, sempre sorridente anche quando soffre.
Dina: è come una scimmia divertente.
Se avesse un superpotere?
Arina: l'abilità di controllare la memoria delle persone, trovare, cambiare, bloccare e cancellare i ricordi. Aiuterebbe le persone a superare situazioni difficili.
Dina: l'abilità di leggere nei pensieri, per entrare nelle menti delle persone, vedere i loro ricordi e riconoscere le loro emozioni, abilità, in modo da aiutare le persone a trovare il proprio posto nel mondo.

CITAZIONE Faces of Gymnastics: Arina and Dina Averina are Russia’s pair of aces
Identical twins Arina and Dina Averina of Russia — World and European champions in Rhythmic Gymnastics — are so identical they even have matching moles on their right cheeks. But this is also the easiest way to tell the two apart right: Arina’s is lower down and below her ear lobe.
Once they were just part of Russia’s packed arsenal for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, dubbed “Russia’s secret weapons” by national coach Irina Viner. Today they are the most dominant gymnasts in the most dominant nation in the sport, and have divided every major title between them over the past two years at the European Championships, the World Games and the World Championships.
Welcome to the Era of Averina.
They were born into an athletic family: their father, Alexei, played football; and their mother, Oksana, and elder sister, Polina, also did Gymnastics. They started Gymnastics at age 4 in their native Zavolzhye, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, training first with Larisa Belova, mother of Irina Belova, 2000 Olympic champion as part of the Russian group. As young girls, they idolised Russia’s great champions. Watching the 2004 Olympic Games, the 6-year-old twins decided Dina would “play” Alina Kabayeva and Arina would be Irina Tchachina. Since joining the national team in 2011, they have been coached by Vera Shatalina, second coach of Kabayeva.
As Shatalina points out, there could not have been one without the other, as each sister has been responsible for the success of the other. They are sisters, best friends and teammates. They credit each other for providing key support during difficult times of disappointing results and injuries. There is no rivalry, only support: each victory is seen as a victory for the Averina family and Russia.
Arina, the elder sister by 20 minutes, is known as Arisha. After a period of injury, she finished second All-around to Dina at the 2017 World Championships in Pesaro, and then took the gold medal over her sister at this year’s European Championships in Guadalajara. With Arina winning gold medals with the Hoop, Ball and Ribbon and Dina with the Clubs, the sisters claimed all titles at the World Games 2017.
The twins, who celebrated their 20th birthday on 13 August, will return to competition this weekend in Kazan, Russia, for the final stage of the 2018 FIG World Challenge Cup series. Who are these wonder twins? They each recently sat down with the Gymnastics Times from Longines to answer a series of questions about the other, in order to let fans in on their world.
If your sister were an element (earth, water, fire or air) which element would she be, and why?
Arina: Fire. Dina is a flame, literally lightning.
Dina: Arina is like water: calm, quiet, soft, tender, kind.
If your sister were an animal, which animal would she be, and why?
Arina: A dog, as she is very faithful and homey.
Dina: A tiger. Even though she is soft, she is also fast as an arrow and very strong. They call her tiger cub.
If your sister were a precious stone, which stone would she be, and why?
Arina: A brilliant diamond – firm and bright, this is Dina!
Dina: Probably a diamond – it’s the hardest stone, with strong character but with a very good cut.
If your sister were a season, which season would she be, and why?
Arina: Dina is summer with its bright colors, changing weather, lightning and storms.
Dina: Surely summer – she is bright, outstanding and handsome.
If your sister were a motto, what motto would she be, and why?
Arina: Never give up! Dina always moves forward toward her goal and dream, no matter how hard it is.
Dina: Never give up! Even at the hardest times Arina doesn’t give up and always goes on.
If your sister were a country, what country would it be, and why?
Arina: The same powerful, generous and multifaceted country as Russia.
Dina: Russia is her homeland, where she was born and grew up. The country she battles and competes for.
If your sister were not a Rhythmic gymnast, which sport would she practice, and why?
Arina: Figure skating. This is her favourite sport after Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Dina: She would go in for figure skating. Arina loves this sport and always cheer for Russian athletes.
If your sister were a hashtag, which hashtag would she be, and why?
Arina: #alwaysstaypositive. We both have the same hashtag. You have to think positively and smile in all situations.
Dina: #staypositive – you must take everything easy and with a smile.
If your sister were the quality that she prefers to see in others, what quality would she be, and why?
Arina: Sincerity. She likes people who are sincere and always tell the truth.
Dina: Allegiance – it is very important when the person is devoted to you and will never betray you.
If your sister were an emotion, what emotion would she be, and why?
Arina: She would be joy, always smiling even when it hurts.
Dina: She is like a funny monkey.
If your sister had a superpower, what superpower would it be, and why?
Arina: She would have the ability to control people’s memories – to find, change, block, and expunge memories. She would help people overcome difficult life situations.
Dina: She would have the ability to read thoughts so she could enter people’s minds, see their memories, and recognise their emotions and skills, thereby helping people find their place in life. |
