Intervista a Margarita Mamun

E i Campionati Europei in Israele.
- No, noi viviamo così costantemente. E’ pesante.
- No, ho semplicemente paura di infortunarmi.
CITAZIONE Seven-time world champion - the paradoxes of artistic gymnastics, the ability to tolerate and absolute self-denial for the sake of results. The most paradoxical in the personality of Margaret - it completely inappropriate to the nature of this great sport. So once said her coach, famous last gymnast Amina Zaripov, who won in a time of six senior world titles. However, even more paradoxical sport that seven year old Rita once chose itself: a victory in the four kinds of the program of the four won by gymnast at the recent national championship, did not guarantee the athlete places in the Olympic team. We spoke with Mamun at Moscow training base in Novogorske - in those same terms, when Rio de Janeiro was held gymnastics test event. Get to the Olympics - a great achievement.
- I know that you have been dreaming to go to Brazil and were looking forward to this competition. - It's true. I was very worried at first when I heard that the trip will not take place: this seems like an opportunity to see the Olympic hall, the dais, to speak on it. But then my coach, Irina Viner and convinced me that do not need as long to fly first in one direction and then the other for one day of competition. Especially since we're going to Rio for a month before the Olympic Games. So I quickly calmed down and stopped thinking about it.
- Get used to each new room is necessary for a long time? - It depends on the audience. We were once in France, there was a dark room - lights only platform. Accordingly, when the object you throw up, it just is not visible. In this case we always we carry with a few shells sets - dark, light. It happens that the asymmetric design of the ceiling and once it becomes difficult to understand how high the flying object. If the hall is too much moisture, I have a feeling the carpet, slowing the rotation, it becomes more difficult to work with tape. In short, a lot of subtleties, but it works enough with the experience. For me, anyway, the new hall - no problem.
- Yana Kudryavtseva said once that it is not much difference in the color of their own coin, provided that the gold will get a Russian gymnast. Do you also think so? - I think a great achievement even just to get to the Olympic Games - this is a very high standard in our sport. And I do not dream about medals, but just about to get into the Olympic team. And to act with dignity, not to what was then reproach himself.
- Those three months that remain before the Olympic Games, frighten you or pushing? - Spurs. We will have a few starts. Now the big break - three weeks without competition, then the World Cup in Brno, after a week in Tashkent, then in Minsk, then in Sofia, then in Spain. And the European Championship in Israel.
- Does a trip to Rio for a month before the Games, a place in the Olympic team after you have fixed? - Of course not. It is planned that after a series of summer starts we go to Brazil as a team: I, Jan Kudryavtsev, Alexander Soldatov, girls who appear in the group may have a few spare. And there will be named the final squad. At the Games in London this happened two or three days before the competition.
- How can such a hassle to maintain from year to year? Or like stress is associated exclusively with the Olympics? - No, we live constantly. In every competition you have to prove their strength, to confirm their right to a place in the team. It's hard. I have, in any case, it does not always work.
- What exactly do you mean? - For example, last year's World Cup qualifying in Stuttgart. His right to play in the all-around, I pulled it almost a miracle. All decided a few tenths of points.
DO NOT SPEND emotions on personal enmity - How do you manage to be friends with rivals on the pitch with such fierce daily competition? - It's simple. When I leave on the carpet, my main task is to ensure to make all that should be. If I suddenly drop objects, it's, as you know, is not the fault of competitors - each of them is exactly the same situation. In other words, we have no direct competition, both in athletics when you run side by side with your opponent and try to beat him at any cost. And then we too heavy sport: if such physical and psychological stress and emotions expend energy even on personal animosity, nothing good will come of it. The only chance to survive it all - stick together and support each other in every way.
- And she exercises for you - work or pleasure? - Probably correct to say that this is a work that brings pleasure. Just fun does not come immediately, but after some time. But it certainly is. When the carpet turns everything, the feeling is very similar to the euphoria. And the result in such cases is always high. I was so at the World Championship in Izmir. Championships have long marathon, go five days during which time should be 12 to enter the platform, and there, I have not done in Izmir in the 12 outputs of any major errors. I do not ever think that such a thing happens.
- A hate periods to training you happen? - Of course. We must constantly push yourself because, break to pieces their own mood, muscle pain, and so every day.
- For what are you doing this? For prospects get another gold medal? - No. I like gymnastics. I'm myself chose this sport - asked my mother to take me to the gym. And then I never hesitated when there was a choice between the gym and learning in school, and had to switch to home schooling. In training I liked everything: the music work, work with objects. The sports complex Olympic Village, where I practiced when I was very young, in one of the neighboring rooms housed the Olympic Training Center. It was something completely different world. I remember looking at the girls, and do not understand how it is possible all that they are doing on the carpet. At the same time I never thought I ever find myself in the room itself. All came by itself: and Novagorsk and world championships, medals and ...
- In other words, the transition to the big gymnastic reality get easy? - The most difficult part for me was to leave with their parents. I have always had a very "home" girl, barely making new acquaintances. Therefore, in Novogorske some time to stay away from everyone. Gym - it's still a purely female team. Everyone has different characters, a lot of emotion. Constantly it is necessary for someone to make peace, someone calm. I probably easier: I'm in character absolutely accommodating people.
- And you cry often? - Before tears. I could not get used to the fact that the coaches screaming at athletes in the hall. Before you get to Zaripova, I do not know what it is. I and the family are not taken, someone to raise his voice. And Amin Vasilovna too emotional person. Can bellow so that the soul goes to the heel, but in a moment already hugging. On the other hand, if she did this emotion is not taught, I probably would, after the first training session at the Wiener Novogorske in general have fled in terror. Although it is often the case that the whole exercise takes place in silence. Especially on the eve of the competition. Vasilovna Amin said that I myself know everything, but the way it is in reality. I need not remind you what to do after a workout, what exercises to repeat in the room, how to recover, how to tune in to the performance. The training, however, I sometimes go in their subject, reduces the load when something starts to hurt.
- It becomes self pity? - No, I'm just afraid of getting hurt. Especially now, when there are very a little bit. Coach in such cases, every time I said, would be in the group, no one looked like something hurts. be bandaged and sent to the mat.
- In the group in this respect, tougher? - Of course. Still, the team should not adapt to the well-being of one person. Therefore, whining is not allowed in principle: either you work along with all or your place is another athlete.
CLASSMATES COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW can skip prom
- Have you ever ever try to force the group exercises? - No. In my life there was only one group training session, or rather even half of your workout. It was enough to understand that it's not mine.
- But the training you nevertheless somehow got? - Lend themselves to beliefs Irina Alexandrovna, that someone from our group - it is a chance to get to the Olympic Games in London. And almost guaranteed chance - license, ie. Just the basic composition of the group is also not so easy to break: the combination of all the group we are preparing two compositions, in case if you suddenly will be a need for someone to replace due to injury or other reason. Well, that all were constantly on our toes. I just have group exercises never aroused interest.
- In general, the separation between the soloists and those who stand in the group, there is a gym? Or are you - a team? - Previously-gruppovichki girl even lived separately - in the other case. And train in another room. But before the Games in London Wiener gathered all in one room, and she coached us and the band.
- Do you ever get scared? - Yes. After the failure. Then inadvertently added to the excitement of the fear of making a mistake again. No, I understand that everything that does not kill us makes us stronger, but it is hard to overcome. Especially when there is no opportunity to talk to someone, to speak.
- Have in mind a psychologist? - Rather, just close friends. Communicate with them for me, even better than communication with the psychologist. In general, I have always been inclined to hold all in itself. Just over time I realized that this is not the best way for an athlete. The more you talk about what's bothering you, the easier it is to get rid of unnecessary thoughts.
- On his first world championship in Kiev you rode absolute favorite, but there were unsuccessful. What prevented? - Errors always occur due to excessive excitement. In Kiev, I won exercises with ball and clubs, but on the final day played out around, dropped the club and made a bad combination with a hoop. And the remaining six. Three years ago, it was, and it seems so long ago ...
- When the projectile falls out of the hands, it always happens suddenly or somehow a mistake, you can provide? - It's not always the same. For example, at the World Championships in Stuttgart, I was the first day of qualifying dropped the ball. In the video it looked as if I rushed the ball with a wild speed - even our photographer then said he did not expect such a hurried from me. And for me, those split seconds stretched into some kind of infinity, as if in slow motion, I saw the ball floating in the air as slowly begins to apply, peripheral vision saw quite near the red line and understand that in no case be give the projectile to cross ... Although of course such fall - a fraction of a second.
- There are times when mistakes start to dream about at night? - I usually dream more. What you need to go to the site, and a bundle on his head suddenly starts to fall apart: I collect it and I can not collect. Or something happens to the swimsuit. Or something else from the same series. Coach told me that the same dreams many times dreamed of her own, when she performed. Sometimes a dream now.
- You will continue to coach as Zaripov? - I do not know. I do not think. In life, so many interesting things besides sports - I'm actually from seven years in the four walls of the hall.
- There is a feeling that life is passing? - There was a time when I thought about it. What other girls are walking, go to the movies, eat ice cream there, go to school, play, and I do not even traveling abroad and only hotel room, a hall and a hotel. But then, when I became older, I realized that many people have no opportunity to go abroad at least once in life. Still, we see a lot more than most other people. When the class learned that I come not to the prom, nobody at all could not understand how you can skip the prom? And I did not even fleetingly regretted it: life became more interesting year after year. My parents constantly told me the same thing: even a whole life ahead. As for the coaching, so luggage and experience that put me over the years, of course I could work in the hall. Just to get results with an athlete, you need to devote no residue coaching life. Although I know that Zhenya Kanayeva enjoy coaching. As Sasha Merkulova, despite the fact that the girls were fairly wide range of options what to do after sport.
- On the other hand, there is Jan Batyrshina fully dedicate himself to the family and the education of daughters. This version is closer to you? - Yes. At least so it seems to me right now.
- So, it remains to wait until such time when the career is complete and Irina will find you a husband. - That's the idea I do not like at all. I really like something itself.
