.Kevin Reynolds si ritira dal Grand Prix
Reynolds aveva iniziato la stagione sottotono, con un settimo posto all'Autumn Classic International, ottenendo un risultato al di sotto delle aspettative per colpa di alcuni infortuni subiti durante l'estate e alcuni problemi ai pattini. Il pattinatore canadese spiega di aver capito che nonostante l'impegno profuso negli allenamenti, a causa del dolore fisico, non gli sarà possibile rappresentare il Canada nella tappa di casa al meglio della propria forma.
Kevin sarà sostituito dal compagno di squadra Andrei Rogozine nella tappa di Skate Canada, mentre non c'è ancora sostituto per l'NHK.CITAZIONE“As an athlete who takes pride in representing Canada on the world stage, I want to be able to show my best and compete at the highest level. My decision to withdraw only comes after I have given my everything in training to prepare for this event – pushing though pain and injury.”

A proposito dei problemi con i pattini, questa fonte spiega come questa stagione Kevin abbia già cambiato quattro paia di pattini, mentre la scorsa stagione ne ha cambiati nove, che non andavano bene nonostante la forma personalizzata dello stivaletto, che gli calza troppo largo sul tallone.

Kevin Reynolds reduce da un'operazione all'anca
Kevin ha da poco subito un intervento di artroscopia all'anca sinistra, necessaria per riparare una lesione del labbro, un infortunio che si porta dietro dal 2010 al quale nessun'altra terapia sembrava dare giovamento. Spera di tornare alle gare una volta riacquistata la salute.
"E' un infortunio con cui ho a che fare da molto tempo, parlando con gli esperti abbiamo preso la difficile decisione di intervenire. La prossima settima e oltre lavorerò alla mia riabilitazione insieme al mio team medico. Vorrei ringraziare tutti per il continuo supporto e spero di tornare presto a pattinare con una nuova sensazione di libertà".

Ok, English now! I think it’s a good time for a quick recap.
Looking back on all that has happened this past year, the fact that I was even back on the ice and jumping again was a victory in itself. After the disaster that was 2015 Nationals, due to my hip injury and still unresolved equipment problems, I thought that it was likely I would never again skate at a competitive level. But thanks to the many people who supported me every step of the way – through my surgery, rehabilitation, and my eventual return to the ice – I was able to not only come back to competition earlier than I could have possibly imagined, but also earn a medal at Nationals again. It is amazing how things can turn around in a year. What seemed impossible not so long ago has now become a reality.
I’m so happy to be back on the ice and competing again, largely worry and pain free. I can’t say that the pain in my hip is completely gone, but it is feeling better than I can remember it feeling in a long time. Thanks to that – and finally being able to find the right equipment again – I’ve been able to practice and perform more freely than I have in many years. I’ve rediscovered the fun in skating, in training, and performing again.
I’m going to take the opportunity I’ve been given with the 4 Continents Championships and give it my absolute all. I owe it to everyone who, when I was in the lowest of lows, still stood by my side and supported me. Without your support, I might have given in to all the negative thoughts and simply hung up my skating boots for good.
After facing the prospect of having my career end with such a feeling of helplessness, I'm now cherishing every day that I’m able to continue doing what I love. Here’s hoping I still have a couple more seasons left in me!
Until next time, thank you so much for all of your support. I want to ultimately show everyone the best performances I’m capable of, and I feel that now, there should be nothing stopping me.. -
