"Il mio obiettivo è partecipare ai Giochi Olimpici a Rio a trent'anni"
Carolina Rodriguez continua a brillare in palestra così come si vede dai suoi cinque ori ad Izmir. I suoi molti successi nella ritmica le sono serviti per essere rispettata dovunque vada. Nonostante alla sua età (29 anni) sia davvero dura rimanere nell'elite, la ginnasta di Leon ha lo sguardo diretto verso i Giochi di Rio come finale per la sua grande carriera.

Quali sono le tue sensazioni dopo 5 ori in Turchia?
La verità è che io sono molto contenta della gara che ho fatto. Non solo per il risultato finale, ma perché volevo dimostrare prima dei Mondiali che mi sono rafforzata in quattro anni. Il primo giorno ho sbagliato l'esercizio alle clavette ed è stato frustrante. Ho raggiunto il giorno della finale e la chiave degli esercizi. Mi sentivo molto più sicura e spero sia la strada per raggiungere i Mondiali nelle condizioni migliori.
Prima dei Mondiali a Stoccarda hai un altro impegno, se non sbaglio?
Dal 13 al 17 ho la Coppa del Mondo di Sofia. Ci sarà la 'crème de la crème' delle ginnaste e dei giudici di tutto il mondo. Ci sono tre Coppe del Mondo prima di Stoccarda - Budapest, Sofia, Kazan -, nel mio caso abbiamo deciso di andare ad una sola. A fine mese ho un torneo internazionale ad Oslo. Si adatta a me perché c'è una giuria piuttosto neutrale che potrebbe esserci ai Mondiali e perché la Norvegia è a due giorni da Stoccarda
Sottolinei "giudici neutrali", hai avuto problemi con loro?
No, ma è sempre vero che sono dai paesi dell'ex Unione Sovietica. Tutti propendono per la Russia ed i paesi potenti e si dimenticano di noi. I giudici neutrali sono per lo più persone del Sud America. In Norvegia ci sarà un giudice serbo, Dragana Terzic, che è una nostra amica e mi ha incoraggiato molto. Sono persone con cui sarò molto a mio agio. In più gli allenamenti sono brevi ed intensi e quella gara è buona.
Con i Mondiali dietro l'angolo, quante ore ti alleni al giorno?
Cinque ore al giorno. A volte non c'è abbastanza tempo per il lavoro fisico che lascio per la sera. Anche se ora in estate sono anche in fisioterapia. E' basato sul balletto, attrezzi, fisioterapia e puro lavoro fisico. Lo combino anche con giorni di pialtes.
Andare alle Olimpiadi di Rio è la grande sfida che segna la gara in Germania?
Sarà la gara della vita essere tra le 15 senza problemi per avere quel posto. Ma potrebbe portare un centinaio di cose. L'illusione è quella di fare una buona gara, ma sarà molto dura. E' un Mondiale. Ho partecipato a 10, quindi l'esperienza è sempre una laurea. Spero solo di calmarmi, perché il lavoro è fatto.
Ottenere un posto olimpico sarebbe un coronamento glorioso della tua carriera?
Di sicuro. Nessuno è stato capace di affrontare le Olimpiadi a 30 anni. Sarebbe l'ideale. Potrei non classificarmi ed andare ai Test preolimpici ancora. Ricordo quella gara e la verità è che è stato un periodo duro. Il risultato è stato buono, ma la tensione che cresce dentro te è brutale. E' da due anni che mi mantengo in posizione di qualifica. Se mantengo la linea degli ultimi anni, ci sono possibilità di andare a Rio.
Come vedi il futuro della ginnastica a Leon? Sara Llana principalmente si sta ancora allenando?
Leon ha una sorgente spettacolare. Sono stati capaci di sfruttare il mio talento. Se ha lasciato così tante ragazze brave, c'è qualcosa in questa squadra per cui deve raggiungere questi risultati. Sara è molto esigente con il suo lavoro. Se affina i suoi difetti, la sua mentalità è da atleta di elite. Di sicuro seguirà i miei passi. Vedi che devi diventare forte e non a tutte le età si recupera nello stesso modo. Dall'altro lato, mi incoraggia, mi dà freschezza. E' positivo sia per me sia per lei. Quando hai finito, si può scommettere per chi sarà la numero uno in nazionale.
Quanto è importante la tua allenatrice Ruth Fernández nei tuoi risultati?
E' la chiave. Circa otto anni fa, sono stata data per persa in questo sport. Lei mi ha salvato. Ha creduto in me più di quanto io stessa faccia. Ti dà una sicurezza in più. E' come una madre per me. Mi alleno con lei da sette anni.
E' certo che sei riemersa nel miglior modo possibile.
Ruth mi ha incoraggiato a presentarmi ai Campionati di Spagna per non restare di cattivo umore. Mi sono sentita diversa, felice. Per me le cose sono andate molto meglio. C'era circa un anno per ottenere la qualificazione olimpica. Tutto grazie all'ambiente che c'era. La mia allenatrice è stata il succo di tutto. Quando ho visto l'opportunità di qualificarmi, mi sono alzata. A questa età è incredibile essere tra le 10 migliori al mondo, quando ero fra le 80.
E' già segnata una data approssimativa per il ritiro?
Ora penso solo ad andare a Rio, finirò in seguito. Il mio corpo me lo chiede urlando. Continuare sarebbe senza senso. Quando mi ritiro voglio essere al top. L'obiettivo corrente è qualificarsi, ma ci sono sempre molte circostanze.
Ti piacerebbe continuare a seguire il mondo della ginnastica dopo il ritiro?
Ho scelto di fare ginnastica e non rimpiango nulla, ma è difficile combinarla con studi o lavori. Continuerò collegata allo sport come aiuto alle mie compagne di squadra, ma cercherò un mio futuro.
Pensi che i media in generale maltrattino uno sport con tanti sacrifici come il tuo?
E' uno sport minore in Spagna. Non è come in Russia, in cui è LO sport. Ci sono grandi ginnaste con vite piene di successo. Qui non puoi competere con i grandi sport come il calcio. Prima portare più ginnastica in televisione. Mi piacerebbe.
Ad ogni modo, ho la fortuna di avere un campo e di uscire sulle principali riviste nazionali. La stampa di Leon mi ha sempre trattata meravigliosamente.
