CITAZIONE
No more national team in rhythmic gymnastics - The national team for rhythmic gymnastics will no longer be continued
With the resignations of Analena Lisa Hofer and Aleksandra Petrovic, there is a lack of breadth on an international level. A month ago, the Swiss Gymnastics Federation (STV) announced that it would not take part in the European Championships in Varna, Bulgaria in June and the World Championships in Japan in October because several of the eight gymnasts in the national team had to take a break due to injuries.
The STV had already dissolved the national squad group for the first time after missing the Olympic qualification in 2018. The strengthening of the sport did not succeed - on the contrary. An investigation report published at the end of January confirmed the years of misconduct in training operations that had become public last year.
As a result, the new association management redimensioned the goals and announced a revision of the top-class sports concept. With now only five athletes left, however, the basis for medium and long-term planning is missing. According to the STV, the lack of breadth is likely to increase even further with a view to the next generation. The contracts with the gymnasts will therefore be terminated at the end of June. The contract of national coach Nadine Rickenbacher-Stucki expires at the end of June.
The STV is now looking for individual solutions for the athletes for their future sporting and schooling.
