MOSCOW, April 9 (R-Sport) - Russian figure skater Vera Bazarova is to team up with Andrei Deputat for future pairs competitions after splitting with Yuri Larionov, with whom she won a European silver medal before the Sochi Olympics.
Bazarova, 21, split with Larionov after they finished sixth in the pairs competition at February’s Winter Games, with Larionov saying they had become stale as a partnership.
Deputat is a Ukrainian-born skater who competes for Russia, winning the world junior bronze medal with Vasilisa Davankova in 2012.
The Russian Figure Skating Federation announced on Wednesday that it had received an application from Bazarova and Deputat to skate together from now on.
It is the latest change in lineup from Russia's hoard of figure skating stars following the Olympic Games, where the country won the first-ever team gold medal, Adelina Sotnikova dethroned Kim Yuna to win the women's singles gold and pairs gold went to Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov.
Larionov said Monday he is prepared to take an 18-month break from major competitions in order to work with his preferred new partner Natalija Zabijako. Zabijako, 19, has previously competed for Estonia and must sit out an 18-month suspension from the world and European championships if she opts to represent Russia with Larionov.
As a pair, Zabijako and Larionov would still be able to compete at Grand Prix events.
With Bazarova, Larionov won European silver in 2012 and bronze in 2011 and January this year, but failed to reach the world championship podium in five attempts. They won world junior gold in 2007, but were stripped of that medal when Larionov was banned for doping, serving an 18-month suspension.
The pair was firmly in the shadow of Volosozhar and Trankov, the European and Olympic champions.
Sochi bronze medalists Elena Iliniykh and Nikita Katsalapov announced on Monday that they were breaking up as an ice dance duo. Ilinykh, 19, will now skate with former world junior champion Ruslan Zhiganshin, while reports in the Russian media suggest Katsalapov will team up with Zhiganshin’s previous partner, Viktoria Sinitsina.

My way... idea rubata da Aliona e Robin che hanno pattinato when winter comes lo scorso anno. HMMM
