Di sicuro spettacoli con la moglie. Chi lo sa, magari lo rivediamo l'anno prossimo.
Ma Nizza era davvero il posto giusto dove concludere: lì i suoi primi mondiali, lì i suoi ultimi. Il cerchio si chiude. E con un programma libero fenomenale!. -

E' stato emozionante vederlo dal vivo!
Soprattutto perchè ha dato fondo a tutto se stesso e ci è riuscito! Una combinazione di tre salti tripli, un quadruplo... e quando le energie gli erano venute meno, tutto il pubblico ha cominciato ad urlare, applaudire e fare il tifo per lui: in quell'istante lui ha sorriso e ha spinto dinuovo sui pattini, si è cimentato nelle trottole.
Io credo che in quel momento lui non stesse interpretando il suo programma ma fosse in contatto con noi, con tutto il pubblico che lo sosteneva e lo spronava a dare il meglio di sè.SPOILER (clicca per visualizzare)Soltanto i giudici non riconoscono queste cose, e restano bassi di components, ma il suo livello di elementi di difficoltà ben eseguite, è stato superiore a quello di Patrick Chan.. -

zo 09/09/2012 - 18:03 Kevin Van der Perren (30) houdt er dan toch nog niet mee op. De kunstschaatser stopt wel individueel, maar is op zoek naar een partner voor het paarrijden.
"Ik ben van plan om in het schaatsen te blijven, maar ik verander van discipline", zegt Van der Perren op Radio 2.
"Ik wil aan de slag in het paarrijden. Er zal wel nog wat tijd overgaan, maar het is echt wel serieus."
Van der Perren stopte eerder dit jaar in maart na het WK. Nu gaat hij op zoek naar een partner, binnenkort zijn er try-outs met drie vrouwen. Het zal geen Belgische zijn, en ook niet zijn eigen vrouw.

Beh, in Belgio non c'è molta concorrenza con le coppie, e Kevin ha abbanstanza muscolatura fisica da poter solevare e lanciare una partner...

E' uno degli ultimi pattinatori che mi aspettavo di vedere ad un programma del genere, essendo uno dei meno "danzatori" sul ghiaccio... però vedo che sui sollevamenti va da dio, la sua struttura fisica si fa valere!. -

Flashback 2001 – Kevin van der Perren (BEL)
As soon as Kevin van der Perren of Belgium stepped into the Ondrej Nepela Arena as a coach at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2016, a lot of memories came back. Suddenly it was as if he just yesterday competed as an up and coming young skater here at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in 2001.
“I did my very first triple Lutz-triple toe combination here in the short program, right over there”, Kevin said and pointed across the ice rink. “I took the risk with the Lutz combination and the triple flip as a solo jump. Originally I had planned a triple Salchow-triple toe and a triple loop. It was the first time for me to qualify for the free program. But at first my coach and I miscalculated and thought I didn’t make it. Then I just enjoyed skating the free program and I had no pressure.”
Van der Perren came 23rd in his second appearance at the European Championships in 2001 and his results improved year by year. In 2007 and in 2009, he became the first Belgian single skater to win a medal at the European Figure Skating Championships in 60 years. He also claimed the silver medal at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in 2002.
Kevin competed in twelve consecutive European Championships until 2011 and retired from competition following the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2012. He also represented Belgium in three Olympic Winter Games.
Van der Perren and his wife, multiple British Champion Jenna McCorkell, are now coaches. “We have a lot of students and many of them are champions in different categories”, the two-time European bronze medalist explained. In Bratislava, he coached new Belgian Champion Charlotte Vandersarren. For nine years, Kevin also has been organizing his own skating show in Belgium and he still enjoys being on the ice every day.
“I still can do the triple Axel, the quad toe and quad Salchow”, van der Perren, who was always well known for his jumping ability, shared. “I like keeping in shape and sometimes when I’m at the boards I still feel the urge going out there myself.”
